Years ago I read from Katie Couric’s “The Best Advice I Ever Got”, where the journalist/author advised her readers, “You’ve Gotta Have Moxie!” with regards to courage and self-confidence. I have always brought this with me in both life and business.
When I ventured out and started my first company, I recall expressing my trepidation to a dear friend about going into a new pitch meeting . I already had 4 major accounts, an office space in downtown NYC and a small staff to support me yet I still felt under-qualified despite my credentials. “Wear something red, it’s an automatic confidence booster,” she told me.
She was right. Wearing red can alter your physiology and balance of hormones and some fashion experts even suggest red projects authority and dominance in the workplace. It’s a color that sends an instant message that exudes power and vitality….something every woman must own!
For my style tip: At work, when wearing red, don’t show too much skin. With my red Ava & Aiden dress, I topped it with a cropped 3/4 sleeve black blazer to enhance my height and elongate my torso. I finished the look off with the Jimmy Choo Mitchell Suede Point Toe Pumps which makes it legit! (These go with everything!)
To me the color red embodies moxie. What’s the color of your moxie?
